Me … the Blog author and lover of travel who loves to “get away” to somewhere “foreign” and see what is over the next hill and round the next bend in the road. Being self employed, semi-retired and reasonably free, Im lucky in the choices I am able to make.
Traveller or Tourist!!
To most people there is probably not much of a difference because they have only experinced beeing a holiday tourist but I like to define myself as a traveller first and a toursit “only when necessity and practical reasons” have compelled it.
This is to be my second BIG OE and a chance to relive some of the experiences and places I travelled to in the early 80′s (Yeah I know that was 20 years ago and I may find sleeping on he ground abit less comfortable lol), and to explore a whole lot more of our world.
At the time I was a “traveller” – defined by having no destination in mind, no job to return to, living on the edge as cheaply as possible, and with little idea of what I was getting myself into lol (I ended up hitching the Himilayas in sneakers!! …. Oh so well prepared haha).
This time round Im hoping to be as open to following the setting sun as in those free and easy days, as up until now all my excursions since then to now have always necessitated a return by date lol…. but this time who knows.
