“D” day has now been booked for the 12 July with QANTAS with a one way trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and now the real work begins lol.
As you can’t just enter on a one-way ticket I now need to sort out train tickets onward to China and of course the related visas, shots and stuff. Not sure really at this stage what is possible and what is not, but thats part and parcle of the adventure 
Im not really sure if you can actually hope on the train and cross the border but Im sure it must happen haha.
There is of course a backup plan which would be to FLY out if the worst comes to the worst — direct to HK and then overland it from there.
The big positive in all this is that Im using QANTUS FF points to get around (until they are all used up!!!) and at the mo have enough to get return miles to London and back…. AND you can book these at any time from anywhere via the Internet.
Thank God for all that past spending on the credit card lol.
